• The AT-Temp is a desuperheater which will not control the flow by throttling the water pressure; but by opening and closing flow area

• Therefore this type of desuperheater (attemperator) is named “Variable Area Desuperheater” or “Multiple Nozzle Desuperheater”

• The control of opening is by a piston which slides in a cylinder

• By uncovering more feed holes to the nozzles, the available flow area will increase and more water will be injected at CONSTANT ∆P

Several Rows of Fine Spraying Nozzles

Spray Cylinders are selected based on the application conditions

Spray Cylinders are designated by the nozzle size and number > “six” size nozzles design

Spray cylinders are easy to change in the field with new or changing process conditions

Sharp angles inside and at top of nozzlehead are round off to avoid possible cracks.

Each nozzle is torque, and then vacuum brazed in place. They are permanent, and never come out.

Water exits the nozzle as a fine hollow cone spray pattern

Consists of a nozzle body and a nozzle orifice

Water enters the nozzle body tangentially

The water is spun and accelerated in the nozzle orifice
